Bitcoin Casino Welcome Bonuses, Explained

A bonus is worth what its terms let you withdraw. This guide takes the terms apart before you claim anything.

OPERATORS PUBLISHING THE MULTIPLIER YOU WOULD HAVE TO CLEAR
EVERY FIGURE THEY PRINT IS AN ILLUSTRATION

Short answer

A welcome bonus is not the number on the banner. It is a contract, and the price of that contract is a multiplier applied to some base, discounted by whichever games you are allowed to play, running against a clock, while your own money sits behind a lock. Read those four things and you can price any offer in the world without ever seeing its headline. Read only the headline and you have priced nothing. This page takes apart what the operators we document actually publish about each of the four, in their own words, with the page and the date we read it. Two of the things you most want to know are missing from every one of them, and we say which. We have claimed no bonus and cleared no requirement; nothing below is an experience, and everything below is a citation.

The Stake welcome offer gives you instant access to the rakeback bonus that is normally only unlocked once you reach the Bronze VIP Club level.

The same article publishes the claim window: "Claiming the Stake welcome offer is as simple as entering a valid referral code within 24 hours of opening your account." This help article carries a relative update stamp rather than a date. Separately, the operator documents a deposit-bonus mechanism that a promotion may attach to a deposit, and states that a deposit bonus requirement "does not apply to all welcome bonuses" — so the mechanism exists without a standing package behind it.

The operator's own Bonus and Promotion Policy (version 4.8, last updated 2025-07-17) runs to sixteen numbered sections — rakeback, rain, free play, spins, bonus buy, sportsbook bonuses, limited-time offers, the VIP club, referrals, sponsorships, giveaways — and the word "welcome" does not appear anywhere in it. Its clause 5.5 refers in passing to "a wagering requirement from a deposit bonus", so the mechanism is acknowledged and never specified. The absence is from the operator's own list; it is not a claim that no offer exists.

One dimension, counted from the fact base. A bonus's terms have six questions to answer: is there an offer, what does the multiplier apply to, how is a bet discounted, is the stake capped, does it expire, and does it hold your money. This order is simply how many of the six each operator answers in writing.

Stake sorts first here. The withdrawal comparison sorts the same operator last, off the same fact base, by the same kind of predicate — and neither order is a verdict. Commercial status does not change either order. Publishing your bonus terms is not the same as running a good bonus: an operator with no bonus has almost nothing to document, and finishes low for a reason that has nothing to do with how it treats a player.

The number on the banner is not the price

Every bonus advertisement in this industry is built the same way. A large figure goes at the top, the word free goes near it, and everything that decides whether the figure ever becomes money you can spend goes into a document you are invited to accept rather than read. This is not a trick unique to crypto casinos. It is simply the shape of the product. A bonus is credit extended against your future play, and like any credit it has terms, and like any credit the terms are where the cost lives.

The cost has four parts and they multiply against one another. There is the multiplier itself: how many times over you must bet before the money unlocks. There is the base it is applied to, which is the part almost nobody looks at and the part that most often doubles the bill. There is the weighting, which quietly decides that some of your bets count less than others, or not at all. And there is time, because a requirement you cannot finish inside the window was never an offer you were given. Behind all four sits the only clause that matters when you want to leave: whether the operator will let you take your own deposit out while any of this is still running.

The panel above is not a comparison of offers. It is a count of how much of its own terms each operator prints where a person can find it before signing up. That is a different question from whether an operator is generous, and the order it produces is not a recommendation. It happens to put Stake, the operator that pays CasinoProofs, at the top, and the withdrawal comparison on this same site puts that same operator at the bottom, computed the same way from the same rows. Neither position is a compliment. Publishing the rules of a bonus is not the same as running a good one, and an operator with no bonus at all has almost nothing to publish.

Whose money gets multiplied

Ask a player what a wagering requirement is and you will usually hear a multiplier. Ask what the multiplier is applied to and the room goes quiet, because that is the sentence the marketing never repeats and the terms always contain. A multiplier applied to the bonus alone is one bill. The same multiplier applied to the deposit and the bonus together is exactly twice that bill, for the identical headline, and a reader who compared two offers by their multipliers would have compared nothing at all.

The operators below do not agree about the base, and the disagreement is not cosmetic. One of them turns over the sum of your deposit and the bonus it gave you. Another turns over the reward together with the winnings that reward produced, which is a base that grows while you play it down. Both describe their arrangement in a single sentence, in a document they publish, and neither sentence appears anywhere near the offer it governs. The rows below carry each sentence beside the page it came from.

Now the half that is missing everywhere. Each operator that documents a requirement publishes the shape of the multiplier and withholds its value. One says the multiplier depends on the bonus you received and on which affiliate sent you, which is a description of a variable, not a number. The other says the reward must be turned over a specified number of times, and then does not specify it. The figures you will encounter in their help centres are illustrations chosen to explain the arithmetic; an example is not a promise, and the count printed under the panel below is the number of operators here who have made you one.

The deposit bonus requirement is determined by a multiplier based on your deposit amount and the bonus you received. This multiplier varies depending on your affiliation and the bonus type.

The policy document states the base without ambiguity: "A bonus rollover defines the multiplier in which the sum of your deposit and bonus will need to be turned over before you are able to make a withdrawal." The multiplier that will apply to a given reader is published nowhere; the help article's worked example names a figure only as an assumption inside the illustration.

You acknowledge that while you have a wagering requirement from a deposit bonus, you will not receive any form of Rakeback.

The only sentence in the policy that mentions a wagering requirement. It presumes one can exist, states a consequence of having one, and never defines the multiplier, the base or the duration. The play-through condition this operator DOES publish attaches to a deposit rather than to a bonus, and is recorded here as a withdrawal hold.

How many of these operators publish the multiplier you would actually have to clear? 0 of 3. Every figure in their documentation is an illustration the operator chose to explain the arithmetic with — not a number it has committed to.

Not every bet counts, and they disagree about why

Weighting is the quietest clause in a bonus and the one that decides how long you will be there. It says that a bet on one kind of game moves the requirement forward at full pace, and a bet on another kind crawls, or does not move it at all. Nothing about this is hidden, exactly. It is published, in a table, in a document, in the section a reader reaches after the section they stopped reading. But a player who was told that a bonus needs a certain amount wagered, and who then wagers it on the games they actually enjoy, can arrive at the end of the money without arriving at the end of the requirement.

What is genuinely surprising is that the two operators here who weight games do it on entirely different principles, using the same vocabulary. One discounts by category: slots move the requirement at full pace, everything else at a fraction of it, with the fractions printed. The other discounts by the house edge of the individual game, measuring each one against a reference edge it sets for itself, so that the games least likely to take your money are the games that clear the requirement most slowly. Read the second scheme twice. It is internally coherent, it is arguably fairer than the first, and it means that playing carefully is penalized by design.

Two words a reader will take as interchangeable — contribution, weighting — therefore mean two unrelated things depending on whose terms are open in front of you, and a bonus listing that says a game contributes fully has told you nothing until you know which scheme it is quoting. Underneath the weighting rows is the clause every affiliate page in this niche mentions and none of the operators here publishes: a ceiling on the size of a single bet while the requirement runs. The count is printed rather than asserted, and what two of them publish in the place a ceiling would go is a list of games you may not open at all.

StakeCOMMERCIAL STATUS

By house edge

A bet contributes in proportion to the game's house edge, measured against a reference edge the operator sets — so a low-edge game clears the requirement more slowly than a high-edge one

SOURCEstake.comREAD ON

Sportsbook is calculated at a 3% house edge and contributes $0.75 toward the requirement for every $1 wagered. This means that if you play a game with a house edge of 1%, it will complete at a 4x slower rate.

The same page sets the reference: "The majority of our games have between a 3.5% to 4.5% house edge, so we've set the wager requirement at a 4% edge." It also publishes a list of games that may not be played at all while a requirement is active.

The clause that turns a balance into a hostage

Here is the sentence Stake, the operator that pays CasinoProofs, publishes in its own help centre about what happens when a player with a live bonus requirement asks for their money back. The withdrawal request is denied automatically. Not reviewed. Not delayed. Denied, by the machine, and the player is told to go and finish the wagering first. It is the wagering trap in its purest written form, and we are quoting it about our own commercial partner because it is the clearest statement of the mechanism that any of these operators has produced.

Notice what the clause reaches. It does not lock the bonus. It locks the currency, which is to say it locks the deposit you made with your own money before any bonus existed, because the two are now in the same balance and the requirement is written against the balance. The way out that the operator publishes is to complete the wagering, or to spend that balance down to nothing and thereby have nothing left to withdraw. Those are the two doors. There is no third one and there is no button that says give it back.

One of the operators we document has a third door and publishes it: the player may forfeit the reward and walk away with what is theirs. That is a meaningful difference, it costs the operator money to offer, and no bonus listing anywhere will tell you which of these companies has such a button, because the button is not a feature anyone advertises. It is a paragraph. Beneath the locks below, each operator's expiry terms sit in the same panel, for a reason worth stating: a requirement that never expires and a balance that cannot leave are the same clause said twice.

When an operator's own terms argue with themselves

We read each operator's bonus documentation from the top, the way a person would, and one of them says two things on a single page that cannot both be true. Near the top it states, without qualification, that every reward it gives comes with no wagering requirement at all. Further down, under its own heading, it explains how the wagering requirement on reward money works, and publishes the table of contributions that a reward without a requirement would have no use for. Its help centre, asked the question directly, sides with the second passage.

We are not going to tell you which of the two sentences the company meant, because we do not know and neither does anybody outside it. We are also not going to bury the finding in a footnote, because it is the single most useful thing on this page for a reader who is about to accept somebody's terms. When a document contradicts itself about whether your money is free to leave, the contradiction is the fact. It tells you exactly how carefully that document was written, and how much of your confidence it has earned.

Both sentences appear below, quoted, from the same page, with the address and the date. This is also, for what it is worth, the fairest thing we can do for the operator: we have not paraphrased it into an accusation, we have not asked it to explain itself in a comment we would then be free to edit, and we have not decided on its behalf which half of its own document it stands behind. Where the other operators' pages agreed with one another, the panel says that too, in the same shape, so an absence of drama reads as an absence of drama rather than as a gap in our reading.

Operator quotations are reproduced in the language the operator published them in. Translating an operator's terms would be rewriting them.

Reading a bonus listing without believing it

Most of what a searcher finds on this subject is a list of offers on a page that earns a commission when one of them is claimed. That arrangement is not wrong and this site has one too, disclosed at the top of the page and again below. What matters is that the incentive runs one way: a listing is paid when you claim, never when you clear, and nothing in it has to survive contact with the terms document to get paid. So the following are not accusations against anybody. They are the quick checks no incentive on the internet will run for you.

Open the operator's own terms before you read anybody's summary of them, and find the base first, not the multiplier. Then find the weighting scheme and identify which of the two kinds it is, because a listing that quotes a contribution percentage without saying which scheme produced it has quoted a number with no units. Then look for the ceiling on a single bet, and notice whether the listing asserted one that the operator does not publish. Then find the expiry, and check that the offer described is the offer currently running rather than one preserved in amber by a page nobody has revisited since it was written.

Two more, and they are the ones that catch the most. A code presented as exclusive to a page is, in most cases, the code the operator gives everyone, and it is trivial to confirm by looking for the same string somewhere the operator publishes it. And a listing that describes the wagering as low, or fair, or reasonable has used an adjective where the terms use a variable, which means it either has information the operator has not published or it has none. We do not know which is true of any particular page, we have not audited any of them, and we are not going to name one. We are telling you where the seams are so that you can look for yourself.

About no-deposit offers, briefly

A no-deposit offer is credit given before you have risked anything, and everything on this page applies to it with the dial turned up. The multiplier is usually larger, the ceiling on what may be withdrawn from it is usually the real constraint, and the base question is the same question. CasinoProofs has not built a page about them, because deciding whether such a page is worth writing needs data from pages like this one, and that data does not exist yet. When it does, the page will either exist or it will not, and either way this paragraph is the whole of what we currently have to say. Nothing above was written about no-deposit offers and nothing above should be read as though it were.

What our partner actually offers, and what we are paid for saying so

Stake is the only operator on this page that pays us, and it is the one this page's ordering puts first. We looked at its own pages again while writing this, rather than trusting what we knew. What it publishes as its welcome offer is not a matched deposit. It is early access to rakeback, a program that returns a share of everything you wager whether you win or lose, and which its own documentation says is otherwise unlocked by climbing its loyalty tiers. Claiming it means entering a referral code inside a window that opens when your account does.

That is a different animal from a headline bonus and it is worth understanding on its own terms. Rakeback has no wagering requirement to clear, because it is not credit; it is a rebate on money you have already staked. It is also, for exactly that reason, worth very little to somebody who plays once and worth a great deal to somebody who plays constantly, which is a sentence a bonus page has every incentive not to write. And the same operator publishes the deposit-bonus machinery quoted further up this page, which is what governs a matched deposit when a promotion attaches one. Both things are true, both are on its own pages, and we would rather hand you the pair than the flattering half.

If you open an account through the card above we may earn a commission. That is the whole of our revenue on this page. Roobet and Bitcasino are named throughout and carry no link, no code and no outbound route, here or anywhere on this site, paid or unpaid. The card states what Stake publishes about itself and nothing else: provably fair in-house games, the widest published coin list of the three, and a rakeback and VIP program, set out in writing. It states no bonus size, because we do not print those, and it states no payout speed, because it publishes none.

Where this guide ends

This guide stops at the terms. It does not walk you through a cash-out, which belongs to the withdrawal guide, coin by coin, with the fees and the identity checks. It does not say who pays out fastest, which the withdrawal comparison answers by publishing who committed to anything in writing and who did not. And it does not rank anybody: the country page does that, with the arithmetic printed, weights fixed before any operator was scored. Those pages are linked below.

Questions people ask

What is a wagering requirement, in plain terms?
It is the amount you must bet before the operator will let the money leave. It is written as a multiplier, and the multiplier is applied to a base that the operator chooses: some apply it to the bonus, some to your deposit and the bonus together, and one of the operators documented here applies it to a reward plus the winnings that reward produced. Until you know the base, the multiplier tells you nothing about the size of the bill. The panel on this page shows each operator's base in its own words, beside the page it came from and the date we read it.
Does the multiplier apply to my bonus or to my deposit as well?
It depends entirely on the operator, and this is the question most worth answering before you accept anything. The operator that pays us publishes a policy stating that the sum of the deposit and the bonus must be turned over, which means a matched deposit doubles the wagering bill relative to a scheme that counts the bonus alone. Another operator here turns over the reward together with its winnings instead. Both statements are quoted on this page. Neither operator publishes the multiplier that would turn either base into an amount.
Why does a table game clear a bonus so much more slowly than a slot?
Because the operator discounts what your bet is worth toward the requirement, and the two operators here that do this use different principles. One publishes fixed percentages by game category, with slots at the top and everything else at a fraction. The other discounts by each game's house edge against a reference edge it sets itself, so a game that takes less of your money moves the requirement more slowly, by design. The words contribution and weighting appear in both schemes and mean unrelated things. Read which scheme you are under before you choose a game.
Can I take my own money out while a bonus is running?
At two of the operators documented here, no. One of them denies the request automatically and tells you to finish the wagering; because the lock attaches to the currency rather than to the bonus, the deposit you made with your own money is inside it. Its published ways out are to complete the requirement or to spend that balance down to nothing. The other blocks the withdrawal too, but publishes a third option: forfeit the reward and keep what is yours. The third operator publishes no bonus lock at all. Each rule is quoted on this page in the operator's own words.
Do these bonuses expire?
Partly, and the part that expires is rarely the part you care about. The operator that pays us publishes a lifetime for its periodic bonus links and a window for entering the welcome code, and publishes no expiry at all for the deposit bonus requirement once that requirement is active — it ends when you finish it or when the balance is gone. Another operator publishes a window on its sportsbook bonus bets, after which they are voided, and nothing equivalent on the casino side. A third publishes no expiry anywhere in its reward terms. The rows on this page carry each statement and its source.
Is a bigger headline bonus a better bonus?
Not in any way that survives contact with the terms. A larger figure attached to a base that includes your deposit, discounted by a weighting scheme that penalizes the games you play, sitting behind a lock that will not release your own money, is a smaller offer than a modest figure without those clauses. The headline is the one part of a bonus that no operator has to keep a promise about, because it is not a promise. It is a description of credit extended, and every term that follows it describes the price. Price the terms and the headline stops being interesting.
What should I read before I claim anything?
Four sentences in the operator's own bonus terms, in this order. What is the multiplier applied to. Which games move it, and by how much of their face value. Whether a single bet is capped while it runs, and whether the page you are reading claimed a cap the operator never published. And what happens to a withdrawal request while the requirement is live. If any of the four is missing from the operator's own pages, that absence is itself the answer, and it is an answer you are entitled to weigh before you deposit rather than afterwards.
