Short answer

This page does not answer whether it is allowed for you to use Stake where you live, and it does not judge whether Stake is safe. This site is an independent affiliate website, not Stake's own site and not a law firm. It has not opened an account to test anything, and it has nothing that could support either conclusion. It cannot determine the law in your country and it gives no legal advice. What the page does is set out the documents that can be checked: what Stake's own terms of service say about age, location and the law where you live, who operates the website and what the regulator's register shows, and where help can be found if gambling has started to feel out of control. It does not claim, and does not suggest, that Stake may be used anywhere.

These are different questions

Whether Stake is willing to serve someone in a given place, and what the law in that place says about it, are different questions with different sources. The first is answered by Stake's terms of service. The second is answered by the law and the courts of the country where you live, and only they can answer it.

Stake's terms can address only the first question, and Stake says so itself: it is not able to verify the legality of its service in each jurisdiction, and it is the user's responsibility to make sure that use is lawful. The wording is in the card below.

In Stake's own words

Terms §4.5(b): the law where you live

Residing in jurisdictions from where it is illegal or gambling is not permitted. Stake is not able to verify the legality of the Service in each jurisdiction and it is the User's responsibility to ensure that their use of the Service is lawful;

The restricted territories in Stake's terms

Stake's terms of service contain a clause that lists territories whose residents are not permitted to use the service. The full clause is in the card below, exactly as Stake words it. It also says the restriction applies to anyone located in such a territory, whatever their nationality.

That list is Stake's, and Stake changes it. This page refers to the terms as they stood when this site last read them; the current terms on Stake's own website are what counts. A place missing from the list only means Stake has not named it. It says nothing about what the law there allows, and this page draws no conclusion from the list in either direction.

In Stake's own words

Terms §14.3: the restricted territories (full list)

14.3 Persons located in or reside in Afghanistan, Alberta, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, Curaçao, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Liberia, Libya, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, North Korea, Ontario, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, South Sudan, Spain, Sudan, Syria, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, Zimbabwe (the "Prohibited Jurisdictions") are not permitted make use of the Service. For the avoidance of doubt, the foregoing restrictions on engaging in real-money play from Prohibited Jurisdictions applies equally to residents and citizens of other nations while located in a Prohibited Jurisdiction. Any attempt to circumvent the restrictions on play by any persons located in a Prohibited Jurisdiction or Restricted Jurisdiction, is a breach of this Agreement. An attempt at circumvention includes, but is not limited to, manipulating the information used by Stake to identify your location and providing Stake with false or misleading information regarding your location or place of residence.

The terms say plainly: do not mask your location

Another clause deals with location directly. It treats an attempt to manipulate your real location through a VPN, a proxy or similar services, or through incorrect or misleading information about where you live, with the intent to get around geo-blocking or jurisdiction restrictions, as a breach of the terms of service. The restricted-territories clause adds that manipulating the information Stake uses to identify your location counts as circumvention.

This site describes no way around a regional restriction and does not answer questions of that kind.

In Stake's own words

Terms §14.4: do not mask your location

The attempt to manipulate your real location through the use of VPN, proxy, or similar services or through the provision of incorrect or misleading information about your place of residence, with the intent to circumvent geo-blocking or jurisdiction restrictions, constitutes a breach of Clause 5 of this Terms of Service.

Who cannot register, and what the player warrants

The terms list the people Stake does not accept for registration: those below the minimum age set in the terms, those living where gambling is prohibited or not permitted, and those who give misleading information or try to pass as someone else. The clause on the law where you live says again that Stake cannot verify legality everywhere and that responsibility rests with the user.

A later section of the terms, headed as the player's own warranties, has more sentences about location. The player warrants that they access the website from a place where doing so is permitted, and that they will not use the service while located in a place that prohibits online betting or casino play. In other words, these terms hand the question of what the local law says entirely to the player to judge and to bear.

Translations are only a guide; the English version prevails

Stake's terms say that the English version is the only legal basis of the relationship between you and Stake, and that where a translation differs, the English version prevails. Every card on this site shows Stake's English wording, because that is the version that counts. Anything this site writes in its own words is only a summary.

In Stake's own words

Terms §3.6: the English version prevails

The English version is the only legal basis of the relationship between you and us and in the case of any discrepancy with respect to a translation of any kind, the English version of these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

About safety: what this page can actually check

This site cannot say whether Stake is safe. What can be checked is limited. First, who operates the website: the terms name the company that owns and operates it, and the company name and address are in the card as Stake wrote them. Second, what the regulator's register shows: this site copies the row for that licence number, with the register's own edition date, and the row is in the card.

These documents say who runs the website and how the register records it. They do not say whether money kept there is secure. This site has not opened an account and does not vouch for the security of funds on any platform.

The register itself notes that it does not guarantee a licence's current validity; this site copies the row and draws no conclusion.

Other risks to know about

Stake's own deposit tips note that blockchain transactions are usually irreversible. Stake's help centre says that a coin sent over the wrong network, or to a wrong address, may not be recoverable; the details are on the deposit page. The terms also reserve Stake's right to ask for identity documents at any time and to restrict the service, payments or withdrawals until identity is determined. The wording is in the card below.

Gambling is not a way to make money. If you notice yourself chasing losses, borrowing to bet, or waiting for a withdrawal as if it were the only thing that mattered, stop first and read the next section.

In Stake's own words

Terms §4.8: identity checks

Stake reserves the right, at any time, to ask for any KYC documentation it deems necessary to determine the identity and location of a Player. Stake reserves the right to restrict the Service, payment or withdrawal until identity is sufficiently determined, or for any other reason in Stake’s sole discretion.

If gambling already feels out of control

Stake describes tools of its own, shown below: a loss limit, and self-exclusion with a minimum period. Beyond those, contact a gambling support service in the country where you live; a doctor or a trusted person is another place to start.

This site lists no helpline. English-speaking readers live in many countries, and none has been verified here as serving every one of them, so naming a service that may not reach you would be worse than naming none. These services are separate from Stake and from this site.

In Stake's own words

Loss limits

Loss limits enable users to set boundaries on the amount of money they can potentially lose within a specified time frame. … However, any increase in the loss limit is subject to a 24-hour cooling-off period.

Self-exclusion

The indefinite exclusion has a minimum period of 6 months from the application date.

Questions people ask

If my country is not named in Stake's terms, does that mean I can use Stake there?
No. The restricted-territories clause shows only which places Stake itself has chosen to name. It does not say what the law where you live allows. Stake also states in its terms that it cannot verify legality everywhere and that the responsibility is the user's.
Can this site tell me whether using Stake breaks the law where I live?
No. This site is not a law firm and cannot determine the law in your country, and this page gives no legal advice. For a view on your own situation, ask a qualified lawyer in the country where you live.
Does this page say that Stake may be used in any country?
No, and it does not suggest it. This page quotes what Stake's terms say about age, location and the law where you live, and it states no conclusion about any country.
What do the terms say about hiding my real location with a proxy service?
Stake's terms say that manipulating your real location through a VPN, a proxy or similar services, or through misleading residence details, with the intent to circumvent restrictions, is a breach of the terms of service. This site describes no way around a restriction.
What if the translated terms and the English terms say different things?
The English version prevails. The terms call it the only legal basis of the relationship, and say that where a translation differs, the English version governs. A summary on this site is a guide only.
Is Stake safe for my money?
This site cannot say. It can show who the terms say operates the website and what the regulator's register records for the licence number, and both are in the cards. Neither document says whether funds kept there are secure, and this site has not opened an account.
Who can I talk to if I think I am gambling too much?
Use Stake's loss limit or self-exclusion tools, shown at the bottom of this page, and contact a gambling support service in the country where you live. This site lists no helpline because none has been verified as serving every English-speaking reader.
